Aylardır beklenen WordPress 3.0, 218 geliştiricinin 6 aydan fazla süren çalışmaları sonucu yayınlandı. WordPress in ilk geliştiricisi Matt’in http://wordpress.org/development/2010/06/thelonious/ adresindeki blog girişi ile duyuruldu.Wordpress 3.0 yayınlanalı daha 24 saat bile olmadı, ancak WordPress download sunucuları yoğun talep üzerine sorunlar yaşayabiliyor:
